Maternal Body Image Assessment & Secrets

Women nearing the time to give birth or who have already given birth often understandably struggle with maternal body image issues. Being transformed physically from a young vivacious pretty young thing into a mother bearing child can be a difficult transition.

Here's a quiz new moms and moms-to-be can take to assess their body image.

1. How do you rate your body - great, good, or poor?

2. How satisfied are you with your present health - very satisfied, somewhat satisfied, or dissatisfied?

3. How do you feel others look at your body - positively, with understanding, or negatively?

4. What would you like to most change about your body?

5. What can you not change about your body?

Here are some tips for moms to improve their body image.

1. Love the woman within and remember you are not your weight.

2. Cultivate and nurture personal wellness - spirit, mind, and body.

3. Unconditionally accept and celebrate yourself.

4. Rejoice in the season of motherhood and the life you create.

5. Be free to be yourself and refuse to conform to societal and media pressure.

6. Be patient as you transition into motherhood and transform your body after birth.

7. Rid your life of stress, which burdens your soul and adds weight to you physically.

8. Befriend other mothers to find support, encouragement, and understanding.

9. Lavish love on your body with oils, lotions, aromatherapy, perfumes, and massages.

10. Dress stylishly and elegantly making motherhood sexy.

Motherhood is beautiful. When I was in Brazil, I noticed women often leave their bellies totally exposed and visible when they are pregnant as they proudly show off their bodily transformation. Pregnancy to Latin women means fertility, which was conceived with sensuality.

Women around the globe therefore should celebrate their pregnancy, fertility, and sensuality.
